This is a very small planter carved from six stratified layers of clay.  There is no glaze or applied surface decoration in this elaborate and time consuming process.  The planter holds approximately half a cubic inch of soil, so care must be taken in selecting and caring for the plant in growing in it.  This piece contains a specimen of Seleginella kraussiana, commonly called spikemoss.  It requires medium indoor light and moist soil.  It would do best in a terrarium, but will survive in the open if regularly misted.

This is one piece of a 2 piece series.  While these will serve as inspiration for future work, this combination of form and coloration will not be repeated.
